Worksheet 5 - Topic Sentences

Worksheet 5 - Topic Sentences

Q Worksheet 5: Topic Sentences This worksheet will focus on the topic sentences of your body paragraphs. Because the final draft of your textbook critique is quite short, the topic sentences of your body paragraphs need to establish a link between the thesis and the information contained in its paragraph. Refer to the Textbook Critique Example and observe how the topic sentences are written – yours should look similar, simple yet effective. Also, refer to the Essay Map at the end of the Textbook Critique Directions to get an idea about how a body paragraph should be structured. Note that this worksheet follows the 5-paragraph structure explained in the Textbook Critique Common Outline, which is available in the content folder titled “Assignment Examples.” The topic sentence of a body paragraph, which is the FIRST sentence of a paragraph, tells the reader what the paragraph is about. Below, write your thesis and topic sentences for your body paragraphs. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
